ant a way to have a blast during your parenting times? Looking for a wa to stay connected with your kid in-between? Need gift ideas? You got it!

With your kid(s), find and photograph naturally occurring letters of the alphabet. Work together, or try to keep at it between parenting times.

Important: the letters cannot be fabricated for the photo; look for where the trees, the shadows and the built form have done that for you. For example, round windows qualify for ‘o’ and fire hydrants – for ‘f’, but you can choose to look harder, and you may have to for ‘Q’ or ‘z’.

Your kid doesn’t have a smart-phone? No problem, get a disposable camera; heck, make it waterproof for some under-water discoveries.

After the fun is had, what could you do with the letters? Make your family’s alphabet poster, or spell out your names and print it on a t-shirt or on a canvas, to keep for yourselves or give as gifts. Imagine what else you can do!

And we would love to see your alphabet. In particular, we would love to see the many ways to write ‘simply parent’. Please send us your versions, and include the story of how you and your kid found the letters, and what the process might have meant to you as a family.

Give your kid a camera, gear up your imagination, get out there together and send your art to [email protected]! What are you waiting for?
