Riverdale Elementary, in cooperation with all schools within the Bonneville Cone, prohibits the use of cell phones and electronic devices including, but not limited to; headphones, MP3, CD players, IPODS, stereos, pagers, handheld games, etc. during school hours. Cell phones have become a disruption in the school and have compromised the educational integrity of the classroom. Besides being a distraction, they are often used for cheating and harassment purposes. Cell phones will be confiscated and held in the office until after school. Phones are available for students to use in emergencies in the main office.

For more detailed information, please see page 28.

Accidents and Emergencies

Please be sure the school office has CURRENT information regarding how parents and other emergency contacts can be reached. Let us know immediately if your phone numbers change during the year.

Students should report all accidents or injuries to the supervisor on duty. In cases of serious accident or illness, we make every reasonable effort to reach the parents as soon as possible. If the injury or illness is, in our opinion, serious enough that immediate treatment is necessary and parents cannot be reached, we will either summon emergency assistance or the physician listed on the registration form. If you do not wish any of those steps taken in the event of a serious injury or illness, please notify us in writing at the beginning of the school year.

Books and Materials

Students are responsible for all textbooks issued to them. If a textbook is lost or damaged the student will be assessed a fee for replacement. At the beginning of the year, students will check their textbooks carefully for any damage and sign a paper letting their teacher know of the condition.
