Every paranormal researcher and investigator wants cool equipment that is both functional and low cost to help them explore the unknown. Unfortunately, thanks to paranormal TV shows highlighting the latest cool must-have gadgets, companies have moved to fill the void of equipment that, more times than less, has a high price tag. The best thing you could do as a paranormal investigator is to learn some simple electronic skills or find someone that can help your group out by building your own equipment and saving a ton of money.

One of the simplest projects out there and one that has a lot of uses is an infrared illuminator. What is an infrared or IR illuminator you ask? It’s like a spot light for night vision cameras used by a lot of paranormal groups for investigations. An LED is a light emitting diode and modern ones put out a lot of light and use less power than a standard light bulb. An IR LED is capable of producing light in the red part of the spectrum (Remember ROY-G-BIV from science class!) just below visible light. So what does this do for a paranormal investigator? It lets them see in the dark of course.
