Paranormal Life July 2014 | Page 15

This Independence Day, if you are one of the lucky Americans that get to spend the holiday on the East Coast where the

The Battle of Bunker Hill took place in 1775. It has been known as one of the bloodiest battles of the American Revolution. In total, 341 soldiers lost their lives. Many of the bodies were buried at the Central Burying Ground.

These soliders should have been laid to rest permanently. However, with the growing city and need for transportation, this is not so. According to celebrateboston.com, as many as 910 bodies were discovered and disturbed during the building of the subway system. A mass grave was created for bodies that were disturbed. Celebrateboston.com also states “Any obstructing graves that were unclaimed by ancestors were buried under this new walkway, and a line of tombs was built on the other side of the grounds for some of the displaced tombs.”

It’s no surprise that with so many tragic deaths and the displacement of the remains that people will often hear crying throughout the graveyard. People have claimed to see apparitions of not only soldiers, but others who have passed on and been laid to rest at Central Burying Ground.

Battle of Bunker Hill & Central Burial Ground.

Hail sweet repose now shall we rest

No more with sickness be distressed

Here from all sorrow find release

Our souls shall dwell in endless peace
