Doing More with Less Patient care should be at the forefront of the industry’s focus, but with increased demands and a tightening resource base, how can this be accomplished? It’s a basic economic principle that the only way to do more with less is to change the way things are being done. This means challenging the traditional approach. But with a multitude of different interventions and efforts currently intertwined and underway within your business, the question we often hear is, “Where do I start?” For an industry in need of determining which piece of the puzzle to focus on, it would make sense to consider where the largest investment lies. For healthcare? That’s the workforce. People Analytics As healthcare systems seek out ways to do more with less, they are looking to workforce analytics to not only drive down costs, but to improve patient care as well. According to a study by Deloitte, less than 25% of organizations felt prepared to leverage their data and to begin using analytics in 2015. Within a year, that number jumped up to 32%. 2 The healthcare industry has been slow to adopt the organizational analytics platforms that would allow it to reap tremendous benefits for patients and profits.
