PALM SPRINGS ART MUSEUM 75TH ANNIVERSARY
uring the 2013-2014 season, the Palm Springs Art Museum
observes its 75th Anniversary through a series of events and
special exhibitions that commemorate the museum’s rich
history and impact on the Coachella Valley. The museum will officially launch its anniversary celebration with a free community day
with free admission at both locations on November 17, 2013 and
conclude with an extravagant museum Gala on March 15 that will
feature a range of exciting entertainment acts and video tributes that
highlight the museum’s accomplishments.

Exhibition Highlights
George Catlin’s American Buffalo
October 1 – December 29, 2013
Features forty paintings of this American painter that showcase his observation of the buffalo and its impact on all aspects of Native American life.
Richard Diebenkorn: The Berkeley Years, 1953 – 1966
October 26, 2013 – February 16, 2014
Highlights the artist’s shift from creating vivid abstract works
to a more representational style that played a key role in the
emergence of the Bay Area Figurative movement.

Artworks by leading modern and contemporary artists such
as Milton Avery, Lee Krasner, Ansel Adams, Tom Wesselmann, and Nick Cave are included.
