D PALM SPRINGS ART MUSEUM 75TH ANNIVERSARY uring the 2013-2014 season, the Palm Springs Art Museum observes its 75th Anniversary through a series of events and special exhibitions that commemorate the museum’s rich history and impact on the Coachella Valley. The museum will officially launch its anniversary celebration with a free community day with free admission at both locations on November 17, 2013 and conclude with an extravagant museum Gala on March 15 that will feature a range of exciting entertainment acts and video tributes that highlight the museum’s accomplishments. Celebrating our history, ensuring our future Key Museum Events Exhibition Highlights George Catlin’s American Buffalo October 1 – December 29, 2013 Features forty paintings of this American painter that showcase his observation of the buffalo and its impact on all aspects of Native American life. Richard Diebenkorn: The Berkeley Years, 1953 – 1966 October 26, 2013 – February 16, 2014 Highlights the artist’s shift from creating vivid abstract works to a more representational style that played a key role in the emergence of the Bay Area Figurative movement.
