KAISER RESTAURANT GROUP a family affair W hen young Kaiser Morcus immigrated to the US from Lebanon in 1956, he couldn’t have foreseen the path that has made him an icon in the Palm Springs hospitality arena. Kaiser settled in Colorado where he married, raised his family, and quickly made a name for himself in Denver and Vail as a hotelier and restaurateur (the Sitzmark Lodge that he built in Vail in 1969 is still thriving). After thirty-four years of hard work and impressive success, Kaiser retired to the Coachella Valley In 1992 to kick back, play a little golf, and enjoy the warm sunshine. He got impatient with knocking that little white ball back and forth across the greens, and his brain revved back up to its full potential, returning him to the restaurant business. In those days, there were only a handful of decent restaurants in the Coachella Valley and he had an itch to create a really, really good restaurant. He opened Kaiser Grille in Palm Desert in 1992 and the rest, as they say, is history. Kaiser Grille was innovative on many levels, and reservations were hard to come by. The food was creative and delicious (he imported Cholula Hot Sauce from Mexico for his restaurant at a time when Americans only knew of Tabasco Sauce from Louisiana). He summoned his eldest son Lee, who had earned a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from the University of Denver and was managing restaurants in Chicago. In 1998, by popular demand, they opened a second Kaiser Grille at 205 S. Palm Canyon in Palm Springs. The Palm Canyon Kaiser Grille recently underwent a multi-million dollar remodel, creating a bar that’s conducive to schmoozing and people watching, and more al fresco patio seating on Palm Canyon Drive. The wood-burning pizza oven was untouched and is still delivering its usual fragrant ???2?6??6?FW&??rF?BF?R6???&F?6GF?R??GW7G'??2&?'W7B?BF?B6??6v?( ?0???6R?F?&?f??r7F?6??&G2??r?fRF?V?"?v???7F?'??W6WV???Bv6?( ?@?7W'&?6RF?BF?RFV?( ?2?W?B&W7FW&?B6??6WB??f??fVB&VVb?F?R6?????W6R?V?VBB#c"2???6??????#??ffW&??rf??R7FV?2?B6??2???'WF6?W&VB????W6R?Bw&???VBF?R6?76?2v??F?P?'V??F??r?Bv2???B6V6??B7F?'??6?F?W?7&VFV@?F?RFV6?&W7FW&?Bb6??&"BF?R6?RF??R??v??6?&V6?RF?Rg&W6?w&??B'&w"&"7?'G2& ??B??'W&vW"?VfV???#?F?R6????W6R?0??VB?VFW.( ?2G&V?6??RG'VR???B????2?B'W7F?6V?Vv?B?B6??f?'F&?R??BW6W2???GW&?&V?V??wW2&VVb?U4D&??RvVB7FV?2?B6??2??@?g&W6??6V6????7W7F??&?Rf?6??B6?V??f?6???B?6???2v??R6V??"v?F?2?S6???6W2??R?G26?W6???6W"w&???R7&?72F?R7G&VWB?6????W6R?2?g&W66?F????rv?F?w&VBV??R?vF6???r????6????G&?fR?W7F?'2?2F?Rg&W6?w&??B'&w"&"??67V?7?'G2&"??v?WBF?B?2f?&R?B??F?P?&?6???v?F?w&VBf?Ww2?b??6????G&?fR?F?P??V?RfVGW&W2????GW&?w&72?fVB&VVb'W&vW'2?7V6??6?Gv?6?W2?FV?6??W26?G2???rv?F???6??W2?6??R7??VB??f??G2???'F???2?BgV??&"?F?R?"'V??Bf?W"&W7FW&?G2????FW6W'B?B?V??F?fW"F?R?W?@?f?W"?V'2?v??6??2v????6W.( ?2??V?vW7B6??W&?2v?B&V7'V?FVB?B??fV@???2f??F?w&VFW"??7&??w2g&??6?F?Vv???#R???2FVw&VR???&6??FV7GW&?V?v??VW&??rg&??F?RV??fW'6?G??b6???&F?v6?( ?Bv?BF?W???VVFVBg&??????F?W?v?FVB??26??6?FW&&?RW?W'F?6R??6?W2?B?&?WF??r???26?7FW"?7VR??&7W2fVR?v2'&?Vv?B??F?F?Rf??'W6??W72??F?P?6?R?V"F?F?R?fW"F?RFV?F??r?V??&W6?W&6W2gV?7F????7W'&V?F???F?RG&v??r&?&B?2&W7FW&?BBF?R?Wr??F??vV??2FV???2v&FV?7FF?V?"?v??6?v????V????&6?#Bv?V?F?R??V?$??&&2?V?FV???2F?W&??V?B&Vv??2?F?P?FWF??2&R?W6??W6?f?"??rF?R??6W"&W7FW&?Bw&?Wf???276???f?"V?G???WfW'?F???rF?W?F??g&??F?R&W7B6?Vg0??B??w&VF?V?G2F?F?R&W7BV????VW2??@?F?W?&R&V?&?&?vV?W&?W2F???'2F???6?????&?f?B?&v?F???2???7&??w2??7?&W0?F?V???BF?W???7?&R??7&??w2???6W"w&???S?#R6?WF???6????G&?fR???7&??w2?4?##c ?6????W6R??7&??w3?#c"6?WF???6????G&?fR???7&??w2?4?##c ?w&??B'&w"&#?#c"6?WF???6????G&?fR???7&??w2?4?##c"?W7F?'2?&?fRF?R6????W6R??6????W6R??FW6W'C?sB?C??v?v????FW6W'B?4?##c???~( ?2'&VF??V??F?s?cR???7G&VWB??V??F?4?##S0?F??V&???&R?"??R&W6W'fF??????6???R&?6???C??v?v????F???4?##?f?6?B&W7FW&?G4?e??7&??w2?6????~( ?2'&VF?6&?Vâ6?6&??2bf?gF??6&?V??4?3?#??C0???
