Kaiser Grille (205 S. Palm Cyn) offers seafood, chops, pizza, and an unbeatable Happy
Hour, and great patio views in the heart of Palm
Canyon Drive. LuLu California Bistro (200
S. Palm Cyn) has great food at value prices, a
12-hour-a-day Happy Hour, and contemporary
architecture that sets it apart from its neighbors.
Elmer’s (1030 E. Palm Cyn) is a Portland, Oregon based west coast favorite offering farmers’
market salads, mountain-high sandwiches, and
hearty steaks and chops. Ruben & Ozzie’s Oyster
Bar & Grill (241 E. Tahquitz Cyn) is focused on
great seafood, but has some tasty meat offerings,
too. Matchbox Palm Springs (155 S. Palm Cyn)
is known for its thin crust pizzas as well as its
chicken, steak and seafood. It’s the only downtown restaurant where you can have a second
floor balcony view of either the mountains, or
Palm Canyon Drive. Rick’s Restaurant (1973 N.
Palm Cyn) offers traditional breakfast and lunch
menus, while Rick’s Desert Grill across the street
(1596 N. Palm Cyn) offers dinner only, with a
mixture of American and Cuban entrées.

And among those opening in the early months
of 2014 are Gin and Juice Bar (132 S. Palm Cyn)
is simply an alcohol bar featuring fresh juices. The
Hacienda Cantina & Beach Club (1555 S. Palm
Cyn) offers Mexican Cuisine plus indoor and outdoor lounges. Legends (125 E Tahquitz Cyn) is
promising a step back in time with a Rat Pack vibe
while you enjoy great entertainment and mouth
watering cocktails. Smoketree Supper Club (1775
E. Palm Cyn, Suite 405) is a modern “grill-yourown-meat” restaurant with a rustic feel.

Quite a few restaurants have opened in the
past few months. Sessions Restaurant + Come
Together Right Now Lounge at the new Hard
Rock Hotel (150 S. Indian Cyn) feature innovative sandwiches and salads for lunch and seafood and meats for dinner. The breakfast menu
is meant to “get your motor going.”
The Purple Room was a favorite hangout for
The Rat Pack in the 1960s, and the new version
will bring back that vibe along with a continental menu and amazing cocktail menu.
Named after owner Jeff Schmitz’s dog, Oscar’s Café & Bar (125 E. Tahquitz #108) offers
breakfast, lunch and dinner with creative dishes
like the “Hash of the Day” served with 2 eggs,
New additions to the scene are Tonga Hut
Palm Springs (254 N. Palm Cyn), a new Polynesian Restaurant, Bar & Grill which is the offshoot
of the iconic Tonga Hut Los Angeles with the
same cocktails and a full kitchen preparing PuPu
platters and other Polynesian treats. Pet-friendly
Caliente Tropics Hotel (411 E. Palm Cyn) has
opened Hawaiian Bill’s Pau Hana Grill, and the
long-awaited sushi bar Gyoro Gyoro Izakaya Japonaise, a Tokyo-based chain, should be opening
in the spring (105 S. Palm Cyn)
The Tropicale Restaurant and Coral Seas Lounge
(330 E. Amado) will soon be opening the Copa
Room (244 E. Amado) which will have a 60-stool
u-shaped bar, upholstered booths, a dance floor,
and an elevated performance stage. Smokin’ Burgers (1775 E Palm Cyn) promises the best burgers
in the Valley when they open. Watch your favorite
sports while enjoying handcrafted burgers, ribs,
sandwiches, prime rib and more.
