Palestine Magazine May 2019 - Page 7

FROM THE PUBLISHER Spring is in the air! T his time of year is always my favorite. In my family household, baseball is also in the air. We’re runnin’ and gunnin’ five days a week to practices and games after work. But, we love it! Palestine just wrapped up the 81st Annual Dogwood Trails festival in terrific fashion. The arts and music twist to the festival was a huge success bringing in nearly double the amount of people we had last year. On top of that, this year’s Dogwood and Azalea blooms seemed to be extra perfect! This edition of the Palestine Magazine brings several great features. You’ll read about Frank George, a Palestine business icon. Frank and the entire George family have deep roots in this community and have contributed to Palestine in so many ways. There’s a feature on the Dogwood Trails Fairy Gardens that were a big draw for visitors, both locally and across the state. We honor Medal of Honor recipient J. Kirk Davis and focus on the renovation and renewal of downtown Palestine. Celebrate with the alumni of Palestine High School Class of ‘69 and the Green Bay School as they reunite and remember. Learn about all the great places to enjoy Alfresco dining around town, fascinating facts about our great state and how to make a great spring dessert at home. As the days grow longer and warmer, I hope you will get out and explore the great city we live in. There is so much to do, and see. We hope you enjoy this edition of Palestine Magazine. Special thanks to all of our advertisers for making this magazine possible. Now get out there and eat, shop and enjoy Palestine!
