CPA, PC was established in 1982 by Jesse George, Jr. Why/how was this profes- sion/industry chosen? Growing up working in the produce business exposed Jesse George, Jr. to the buy/sell world of business. Several influ- ences led Jesse, Jr. into the account- ing profession. As he excelled in his math classes, confidence in the ability to use math skills led to use in business, and accounting was the next step. The respect given to the company CPA was also a factor. The moral aspects and independence were appealing. In college, Jesse Jr. found income tax law and account- ing interesting and logical. It was in graduate school, using tax law to solve problems and direct transac- tions that real inspiration arose. “I remember a case the IRS lost when going after the Boy Scouts of America, and really understood the need for tax research to keep the IRS honest. The motivation to identify tax saving opportunities for taxpayers is the driving force for our tax practice. Q A Tell us how the younger gen- erations got involved. Because of Jesse Jr.’s passion for accounting, he made sure his children were exposed to it early by teaching them how to balance a checkbook and create a budget. His children may tell you they were “strongly encouraged” but they all say that they appreciate his guid- ance as all five, Jesse III, Jacob, Sar- ah, Joseph and Philip have attained Masters Degrees in taxation from accredited colleges throughout Texas. “Being surrounded by family and friends in the accounting and business fields has influenced our decision to become accountants,” says Jesse George III, CPA. Q What does it mean to you as a family to work together? A When asked what it means to work together as a family, Joseph said, “It is a blessing to have someone in the family specialize in each field of accounting.” Jacob added, “This structure has been in- valuable to my personal and profes- sional growth.” “We all have differ- ent personalities but we are working towards the same goals in life and business,” commented Sarah. The family st ory is not complete without credit to Mary Beth. She has been involved from the beginning as sup- porting spouse and mother. She has been dedicated to her family and served many roles in the business over the years to help maintain the high standards of customer service. Q A Favorite business/life quote? Jesse Jr.’s favorite business quote is from Arthur Temple, “Do it right. Do it right now!”, and favorite life quote is from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
