45 PA L E S T I N E C H A M B E R.O RG Q A Q A Who in the family started the business? 1993. Neel Warren started Warren AC and Heat in the summer of Why/how was this profession/ industry chosen? Neel actually got his AC license while working in plant operations at the local hospital. When Neel started at the hospital, his boss, Tony Kubecka not only taught him deep troubleshooting but encouraged him to pursue air conditioning and refrigeration. After receiving his license, Neel started Warren AC & Heat. He kept his day job but had a dream to one day go into the AC business full time. Q A Tell us how the younger gen- erations got involved. In the earliest days of War- ren AC & Heat, Neel ran calls while his wife Kristi kept the books and answered the phone. The War- ren brothers grew up working week- ends with Neel in the family busi- ness, getting paid in meals at Little Mexico when they were too young Warren AC and Heat to earn paychecks. After being away at college and other jobs, Neel’s oldest son James came to work for Warren AC & Heat in June of 2010, and Neel’s son Miller left his job as an area manager at Walmart to join the team in May of 2017. Neel’s daughter Liz Cotton is in charge of social media, and son-in-law Curtis has worked for the company since 2016. Q A What is your business philoso- phy? Warren AC & Heat strives to provide a top-of-the-line prod- uct with prompt, quality service. We also work to create a culture where our team members feel cared for and enjoy coming to work. Q A What does it mean to you as a family to work together? While getting their respective business degrees, both James and Miller remember hearing the advice “never go into business with your family.” However, our faith and high value of honor and mutual respect make working together fun and fulfilling. While we are serious about growing and getting better at what we do, we laugh a lot and enjoy setting goals and dreaming about what’s next. Q A Any predictions/future plans to continue the business for the next generation? In our journey as corporation, we have found a niche in help- ing business owners transition out of ownership and into retirement. In November of 2009, Neel bought Davis Refrigeration. The business expanded to include electrical services when Neel bought Buddy’s Electric in 2016. Our goal is to help with the continuation of their good reputation and quality service, while perhaps offering expanded services. Our most recent addition to the Warren AC family is Reeder Air in Buffalo, Texas, and our goal is to add other locations in the future. Q A Favorite business/life quote? Everyone has a God-given purpose to make the world a better place.
