In a poor village, on the coast of Myconos, lived a woman named Loulia, who suffered from a serious lung disease. For the treatment, Petros, her husband only had one solution : go to North America to get herbal cure to a healer. One evening, the man, walking along the beach, was very lucky. He found gold ! Ecstatic because of this unexpected wealth, he ran to see his wife. -Darling, I struck gold ! We are rich ! -What ? What are you telling me ? -Yes ... look. Gold ! Tomorrow at the first light, I will leave to get what you need. But don’t worry, I will be back soon. Petros was determined to find out the healer and save his wife. The trip, long and painful, lasted one month and a half. Arriving ashore, Petros got lost in the forest, as he could get a map before departure. Fortunately, as in the legend so often told by his mother, many fireflies appeared along the path. He followed them to a small wooden hut.... He understood immediately that it housed the famous healer. He knocked and explained his wife’s problem. Petros warmly thanked the man and gave him the gold coins found on his native island. He went to his boat, sailed and went back to his beloved. As soon as he arrived, Petros called his wife several times but no one answered. He ran into the garden and saw her lying under the washing line. Distraught, he rushed and, fearing the worst, started crying. But Loulia, although very weakened was still conscious. A tear rolled down her face. Petros made her swallow the medicine. Loulia recovered very quickly and lived happily but neither her nor Petros ever spoke again of the disease.
