J4 Paintball first showed their Torque
Marker prototypes at the 2013 Paintball
Extravaganza. The marker definitely got
it’s fair share of attention last year - but
this year it was one of the hot-sport of
the PBX.
The Torque is a new gun platform, a
Stacked Tube Spool. The first spool
valve to offer a split between the bolt
and drivetrain while still acting as a
simple open bolt, the STS basically runs
a new 3 critical o-ring lower spool valve
while carrying a bolt, much like a normal
Stacked Poppet style gun.

This action also
allows us to build
a mechanical version of the gun in
the future, and due
to that allows us to
add a Hall Effect
Sensor (HES) to
the timing operation. This is significant because
we can now have
the marker completely autotime
itself. No FSDO,
no complications
from cold or hot
weather, or gummy
paint/low lube type
of situations. We
have 3 ‘eye’ settings: Classic, which is
like older designs, just adjusting dwell.
We have AI, which adjusts the timing
(up to a limit) to compensate for outside conditions, and ‘Soldier On’ which
is HES driven, for situations where the
gun normally should not function, which
allows it to over dwell to power through
the worst situations.
