The way their season’s going, betting
on Impact to add a World Cup trophy
to their collection is a pretty solid decision no matter how you slice it. Tampa Bay Damage won’t let them get
away with it without a fight though, as
they sit just behind Edmonton in the
series title rankings. The legendary
Ironmen continue to soldier on as a
dark horse as well, and they might hit
their stride and peak at the World Cup
as they have in years past, making
things interesting. Don’t forget X-Factor. San Antonio X-Factor won the coveted World Cup trophy last year, and
rest assured they’ll be back prepared
to defend that title this season. Expect
the pro champions division to feature
some of the most amazing games of
the year so if you’re going to Cup this
year, go ahead and get your grand
stand ticket now.
Then there’s the vendors. Players
and those attending just to shop can
expect the usual long list of vendors
with new product on sale for the first
time alongside product that’s been
out a while and might even go at a
great price! Some of the big vendors
that always show up and show out at
World Cup include major PSP sponsors
like Empire, HK Army, G.I. Sportz/
VForce (who also recently acquired
Tippmann), Planet Eclipse, GOG,
Luxe and Dye, who usually make the
World Cup their showcase with multiple tractor-trailers and veritable miles
of product on display. Other vendors
will likely include Exalt, Raza, Virtue,
Anthrax, Animal, Pinokio and many,
many more all with hot gear at show
September 2014
prices. Set aside at least a day, if not
two, to walk the massive show and
browse the displays of guns, gear and
goods!
For those looking to actually play
paintball at the 2014 World Cup,
there’s something for everyone. From
divisional RaceTo play from top-level
Division 1 paintball on down through
the various divisions of RaceTo, competition will be stiff as teams will be
drawn from across North America and
even the world. Add a little old-school
paintball to the mix in the form of tenman play and even woodsball thanks
to Tom Cole and the Ultimate Woodsball League, plus pump play, and
you’ve got a paintball event at which
almost anyone can participate! Those
new to the event should be prepared
to go check out the amazing Fantasy
of Flight facility at which the event will
be held, featuring a remarkable array of airplanes, while family may be
tempted to head into Tampa or back
up Interstate 4 to Orlando to Disney
World! Certainly, the PSP World Cup
offers something for everyone, playing
paintball or not.
The World Cup, for many years the
pinnacle of competitive paintball and
the place where major industry announcements and new products are
made, is an amazing event that continues to reign as the place to be for
paintball players, teams and the industry, and 2014 will certainly not disappoint! For more information visit the
PSP online at www.PSPEvents.com.
