relegation game) by a combined score of 219. Houston Heat will be relegated to the Challengers Division for the second event of the
PSP season - the Mid Atlantic Open.
Last year’s pro series champions had a great
early run in Dallas, winning all four of their
first round games and earning a second
round bye. Their tournament ended prematurely in the semifinals as they lost a very
tough game to LA Infamous 4-3. Like Dynasty, San Antonio X-Factor also went undefeated in the preliminary rounds after winning the
World Cup. And like Dynasty they hit the wall
in the semifinals, losing to Omaha Vicious
7-6.
Omaha Vicious won only two of their first
round games but made the cut. As I mentioned earlier they defeated San Antonio
X-Factor 7-6 and were headed to the finals
for the first time since turning pro. In the finals they would meet LA Infamous, who went
3-1 in the preliminary rounds and then beat
out Dynasty 4-3 in a great game.
This set up a final matchup of LA Infamous
versus Omaha Vicious. Although LA Infamous
finished in the top seven in all five events in
the PSP last year, their best finish was third
place. So making the finals is a great start
to the 2014 season for Infamous. Similarly,
making the finials for Vicious was huge for
this team that has never played in the final
game of a pro event in the PSP. So the stage
was set for a game that few would have
thought we’d be watching in the finals.
