TOURNAMENT
Then there was the paintball. Lots of paintball. In the heat. It was hot at the 2013
World Cup with temperatures climbing
into the nineties with the sun and humidity in full effect. With nearly 400 teams in
attendance the PSP used a dozen fields to
run everything from paintball in the woods
over by the lake for the UWL to ten-man
open play and numerous RaceTo fields,
including one for the Champions and one
for the Challengers. On the Challenger’s
field the story early on was XSV. In their
first full season of RaceTo play after dedicating to the PSP, the JT factory team had a
rough one, unable to bring BeatDown City
56
to Sunday all season. That all changed at
the World Cup, as the team put the beat
down on all three teams they faced in their
preliminary bracket (a bracket truncated
by the absence of the TonTons) and moved
into the late rounds in the number one spot.
Trenton TopGun Union came along in second, along with Vicious and Texas Storm.
In their matchup, Storm was able to end the
impressive XSV run by a point, while Vicious looked strong against Topgun Union.
In their epic matchup for the World Cup
trophy, it was Vicious who battled onto the
top slot on the podium, taking their second
Challenger’s Division win of the season.
