capabilities and appearance with a tactical look and a full array of mag-fed,
mil-sim features. The MR5 is standard
with an M4-style, collapsible stock that
a user can install or remove quickly
and easily. While the marker loosely
resembles an M4 or AR15 with many
aesthetic and functional elements clearly drawn from that type of firearm,
including the magazine release button,
quad-rail system and cocking handle,
there’s still a Spyder under there that
can be seen in the polymer
lower with a .45 style grip
frame and single trigger
with the traditional Spyder
steel braided air hose feeding air from a basic bottom
line bottle adapter. A comfortable set of wrap-around
grips encase the grip frame
and the bottle adapter is
mounted with two inline
screws, allowing the user to
upgrade to an on/off later if
they so-desire. Up front and
along the top of the receiver,
plenty of rails allow for the
mounting of sights, scopes,
grips, lights, lasers, bipods
or cameras, while the magazine-feed
system and offset hopper elbow allow
the owner to sight directly down the top
of the marker without obstruction.
The Spyder MR5’s short, included barrel with a threaded muzzle break can
be switched “on the fly” to shoot either standard, .68 caliber paintballs
from a hopper or the magazine, or First
Strike rounds from the included nineround magazine. First Strike rounds,
a spin-stabilized paintball with spiral
fins, fly much farther and deliver much
