89 diers muster the courage and fortitude to snag the dynamite and try again? Unfortunately, the dynamite lay exposed and several NVA/VC markers were trained on that position. Try as they might, the dynamite could not be recovered and the mortar remained undamaged. In the end, Red scored nine points for keeping their flag flying and defending one mortar location. With only one mortar destroyed, earning the U.S. Army two points, the NVA/VC pulled ahead and WON BY ONE POINT: Blue 29; Red 30! Or did they? Mission Masters always has something up their sleeve. During the briefing, a bonus item was introduced and explained: the Ace of Spades playing card. Given Mission Master’s fun way of integrating historic symbolism into objective locations, these cards, if picked up by whichever team found them, would be worth “something” at the end of the day. These “death cards” were tallied at the close of the day and announced during the closing ceremony: U.S. Army – 8 death cards; NVA/VC – 11 death cards. Final score: Blue, 37; Red, 41.
