The Champions Paintball
Series (CPS) got its season underway in Rome,
Italy and like all CPS
events, this one was in a
prime location. Located
in the heart of the busy
streets outside of Rome
and just a few kilometers
from camping, hotels and
the Fiumicino airport, the
CPS Rome “Living the
Dream” event would not
disappoint. There were
hotels, bungalows, mobile homes and camping available to players,
spectators and vendors--all close to the
event’s playing fields. The games were
played in the park known in Italy as
“Parco della Madonnetta,” which was
only a 25 minute drive from the famous
Colosseum, one of the most enduring
sights in the world. Public transit to the
Colosseum and the heart of Rome was
available as well, and only a short hour
of travel time was needed to get there.
In summary, this was an amazing location to hold a paintball event.

Black Legion Nimes dominated the
Semi-Pro division in the preliminary
rounds but lost 4-2 to Ronholt Blast in
the semifinals. Phoenix shutout Reading Entity 4-0 in the semifinals. Phoenix
would go on to win the Semi-Pro division by defeating Ronholt Blast in the
finals. Reading Entity finished in third
place overall.

Fifteen teams entered the Division
1 (League One) RaceTo-4 bracket in
Rome. Advancing out of the preliminary rounds and into the quarterfinals
In the Pro (Super League) RaceTo-5
were Assassins Cracow, Indecence,
MLKings had an easy time of it during
the preliminary rounds, winning all four Van Gogh, Sheriff, Scalp and Kuopio
Takeover. In the semifinals Indecence
of their game easily, 5-2, 5-2, 5-0,
beat Sheriff 4-2 and Scalp beat Assasand 5-2. Marseille Icon lost only to
sins Cracow 4-1. Scalp, who got better
the MLKings. Marseille Vision had two
and better as the tournament went on,
preliminary round wins, while Instinct
logged one win and Kansas Killzone had beat Indecence 4-0 in the finals to win
none. In the finals MLKings would have the event. Assassins Cracow finished in
third place.
