20 John Amodea: Jim, what’s new at Enola Gaye? We’ve heard there may be a name change or logo change coming. Can you fill us in on that? Jim Rose: Yeah we’ve had a bit of a refresh on the old logo, it’s been a long time in coming, nothing too much just an update to the existing look. We are not having a full name change as we are a globally known brand and we’re not in the business of commercial suicide just yet. However we are introducing our name abbreviation which will eventually be the forefront to the business, but this transition will take years. We have always been known as EG but have never really pushed it as a name; we will always be Enola Gaye but the full name will start to take a back seat on much of our advertising and promo. What’s your most popular smoke? It’s difficult to say which is our most popular smoke, but if we were to go strictly by sales it would have to be the Wire Pull Smoke, which was our first unit that we introduced. This unit will soon be known as the WP40 as al l of our hand deployed smokes are wire pull. This unit is the most common on fields and sells well into rental and serious players alike, the Burst Smoke Why? Not so much for the controver(BWP) and the EG18 Assault Smoke sial side of things as the name is not are very popular with high end players actually changing, just being abbrevilooking to create cover immediately. ated. We know that not every person Our sponsored team The Sandbagis fully cool with wearing the word gers only use EG18 and swear that Gaye on their chest, so the EG logo this type of cover has won them critwill fill that gap. It’s not uncommon for ical games in sparse woodlands; The companies to abbreviate, AG, BA, AA Sandbaggers won the UWL in the UK there are hundreds of examples. We’re last year using Enola Gaye smoke. pretty excited about the new look! What’s the difference between the Tell us a bit about your new BB and EG18, Wire Pull and MK5? Paint Grenades? OK, so it is slightly confusing as all The Paint Grenade was the first prodof our products are Wire Pull, but our uct that we ever made and is still gooriginal design was named Wire Pull as ing strong. It is one of our best selling products in the UK and any decent field carries this as standard; the rubber non-explosive version that is seen across the States has limited appeal in Europe due to our more popular product. We have a Wire Pull version that will be introduced to the USA in the near future, however dealers and users have to be patient as we have to iron out approvals on local and national levels before it is introduced.
