OKLAHOMA D-DAY, SPECIAL EDITION 2013 There is nothing like waking up to the smell of hot breakfast, sun in your face, and “Good Morning Vietnam” blaring over the PA. It may be my vacation but I couldn’t be any happier to wake up early. It’s Friday, the day before the big game. It’s my last chance to relax, prep my gear, get any last minute supplies, greet new arrivals, and finalize my plans for the next day’s battle. Time to get going! For those of us that have been to military colleges or have served in the military the usual D-Day Friday is much like a military Friday. It’s a combination of the day after days of hard training where you recover your gear and get prepped for battle (relax at camp), you have a celebratory send off for those going to battle (parade), visit the local village for your supplies (vendor village), and make your final plans for battle (command briefings). It’s a busy day with a relaxed feeling. I start of the day with a hot cup of coffee and some chow at our mess tent and head for vendor village. This year was probably the best showing with major vendors like Tippmann Sports, Hammer Head, Engler Custom Paintball Guns, Trade my gun, and several others. I browsed for deals, picked up my paint tickets, got some pods, picked up a new lens for my mask, and checked out the hot new products that came out this year. Not to mention manning the K-Dawg’s Paintball Media booth for a bit and catching up with old friends. Then it was off to check out the Island Copter crew. They have been at every D-Day since I can remember and offer the most unique experience of the whole bunch. For around $30 they take you on a 5 to 10 minute trip all over the nearly 1000 acre property. They swoop, circle, and hover to get any angle you could imagine. They helped us get some great shots! 104 paintbal
