to make a difference. They adapted to their situation by
putting together their first ever scenario event as a team.
Jay has this awesome plan on how to bring the sport that
he loves to his home and make it available to everyone. “I
want to make it a thing out here, as big as speedball is”
said Jay when I asked him what his plan was.
As well as the team scenario play, the Hawaii chapter
also has a peewee division of magfed paintball. He
started this part of the team with his 11 year old son who
is now head of the peewee
division. It started when his
son wanted to come out
and play with his dad on the
field. He did well, but Jay
thought the team needed
more experienced players
on his team, so they came
up with the peewee division.
The peewee divisions made
the children feel like part of
their own team and could have fun with kids their own
age and experience level.
Although Jay and his team just started p laying magfed,
they know that it was the right choice. It is a fun, less
expensive, and more challenging way to play and with
such little options in Hawaii that was a good route for him
and his team. Seeing as how not a whole lot is going on
scenario paintball wise in Hawaii, a lot of people don’t
even know what magfed paintball is or that it even existed.
One of Jay’s main goals is to expose magfed paintball in
Hawaii and make it as big as it is getting in the mainland.
That is why Jay likes to hold scenario events with his team
every other month, to help more people get interested
in magfed.
Being a part of a big team that backs them up and being
sponsored has helped Jay and his team significantly.
With being sponsored it makes them feel like they are
not alone. When it comes to game time their sponsors
like to donate prizes to give out, which if you don’t have
a paintball store readily available can be a huge help
with the gear. Right now, Jay is running a MKV Tacamo
conversion kit with DMAG for his Tippmann Project
Salvo. I asked Jay after he started playing magfed if he
would ever go back to regular paintball. He told me that
he would never. Once you go magfed you don’t go back.

“Hoppers have become obsolete in my world now”
said Jay.
Jay would like to give special thanks to some people
who have helped him get where he is today. “I would like
to thank the boys in Team Ghost Company up in New
Jersey, especially Lex, for helping us out and giving us a
chance to be on their team. It is an honor to be a part of
something big like this. I would also like to thank Rockstar
Tactical for always hooking us up and backing us as a huge
sponsor, and also to Cousins Paintball for the support. I
would also like to thank my teammates, without them it
wouldn’t be a team, Vincent “Hollywood” Dayries, Peter
“Hammer” Russell, Chris “Sirhc” Parker, John “Master
Chief” Hughes, and Lorie “Valkyrie” Hughes. And last but
not least I give thanks to AKUA, Aloha Ke Akua, without
him nothing would be possible.”
So if you are in Hawaii and wanting to play some magfed
paintball or just want to go help out with the movement
you know who to go to. Jay Murasaki and his team are an
inspiration to paintball players who know what it feels like
to live somewhere where the sport they love is not popular
or easy to come by. If you are interested in talking to Jay
about some opportunities or playing you can contact the
team on their Facebook page “Team Ghost Company
Hawaii” or on their website at www.mauipaintball.com
