Red Storm 3-2 to take the Med Cup SPL crown. RMG Symphony Bratislava beat FiveStar Lleida 2 in the Division One finals to take first place. Ultra Moscow beat Ugly Ducklings Odense for the Division Two crown. And London GBV won Division Three. As always the Nations Cup portion of the Millennium Series events are one of the most watched (on site and on the GoSports webcast) and this one was no different. The Nations Cup theme for this event was the Veterans and to qualify to play you had to be at least 40 years of age. Teams comprised of veteran players came representing Russia, Ukraine, Netherlands, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Norway, Great Britain, Italy and Belgium and the battle was on. The four surviving teams that made it to the semifinals were Latvia, Russia, Great Britain and Sweden. In the semifinals of the Nations Cup it was Russia defeating Great Britain 4-0 and Latvia sending Sweden home early 4-2. Russia and its very experienced roster came away with the 4-1 victory of Latvia to claim first place. Kevin Coulm of the TonTons won his third one-onone event at the Med Cup. As the event wound down it was clear to me that this was one of the best events I’ve been to in a long while. The Millennium organizers did a great job with everything, including handling weather issues. We’ll see you in Germany. www.Millennium-Series.com for more information on the league.
