Nestled in the hills of Taylorsville, NC nearly 1,500
players gather each November to participate in
one of Paintball’s premier scenario events. In its
12th year, Fulda Gap draws Speedball, Woodsball,
Pump and Magfed players alike to Command
Decisions Wargames Center for an intense 2 day
battle. This year the NATO forces were led by Eric
Engler while Richard “Mamba” Money Jr. served as
General for the Warsaw forces. Each are seasoned
Fulda Gap Commanders, with Mamba leading
Warsaw in 2012 and 2013 and Engler heading
NATO in 2014 and 2015.
Fulda Gap is said to be one of the last “pure”
scenario games in the country. The game producers
have framed the game around the geographical
region of Fulda Gap and the conflict between
NATO and Soviet forces during the Cold War.
It focuses on the potential outcome of a direct
confrontation that may have led to World War III.
“After attending D-Day Oklahoma I began to think
that perhaps we could run a historically based
game here, but instead of WWII we could focus on
the “what ifs” of a third World War scenario.
