Avalanche. And Chad Bouchez, Jeremy Salm and Blake McShane playing for the Outlaws, as well as Todd Adamson, Frank Connell, Eric Dearman, Spesh Robinson and Rodney Squires playing for the All Americans—just to name a few. MLKings Company, with no pro players on their roster, put on quite the show in the preliminary rounds, winning all eight of their games, as did the Washington Winstons with six pro rostered players. Cabana Boys, with eight pro players won seven of eight prelim games. Mackerel Enthusiasts, a really young team with no pro players won six opening round games. No other team won more than five. In the end it was Outlaws defeating AAF 2, a team that barley made the first cut, to take first place. Trauma beat Mackerel Enthusiasts to take third. Batteries Not Incl uded won the Open Five- Man, Armageddon GUA won Division Three Five-Man, Team Speed Gold won Davison Four Five-Man and Shut Up We’re Trying won Division Five Five-Man. Josh Barton and Robert Bendig from North Carolina playing as Team Boe won the 2 versus 2 competition and the $50,000 prize, in front of what appeared to be more than 2000 fans. I have been to all 28 World Cup events and I can’t remember a better one. From the Newburg, New York ‘Cups to Old Town Kissimmee, Disney, the farm auction site or Fantasy of Flight, this was my favorite World Cup event. The vibe, the 2 versus 2, the ten- man and of course the Xball games were all great. But the vibe, the trade show, VIP, the family activities around the vendor row— The Amateur Ten-Man bracket drew 34 teams these are the reasons this event stands out of all skill levels—names from the past like SD for me. Aftermath and All Americans, as well as many up and coming teams and some first timers. See you in 018! In the end it was DST Alumni defeating the All Americans to take first place. 050 paintball.media magazine
