a three-man mechanical tournament! Night play was offered Friday night, an opportunity the Blue team used to jump out to an early points lead when the score was tallied Saturday morning. Speaking of Saturday, it was this day that was to play host to the main portion of the Supergame event. As the hundreds of players, referees and staff hit the field for the game, temperatures soared past the 90-degree mark and humidity crept up, making the day’s weather every bit as challenging as the paintballs and First Strike rounds the opposing teams put in the air. As the summer foliage was in full force throughout the OXCC facility, East Coast Supergame 2018 was a sniper’s paradise, with unwary players picked off left and right by crafty, First Strike-shooting players like Alabaster Slim and Greg Hastings, who crawled the field with his freshly sighted- in CCM bolt-action, magazine-fed marker. The players shooting round paintballs got a little closer to one-another and several times throughout the day, players on opposing teams found themselves on opposite sides of the same thick brush or berm leading to some intense action. While the Blue team had jumped out to an early lead with their points from night play, the Red team, with the early help of Sonny Lopez and his Hitmen Renegades, turned the heat up early and never let off, pushing across the more open side of the field and 096 paintball.media magazine to the “Lego Castle” and turning the corner through the park’s boat graveyard, before entering the woods and, by midday, bottling the Blue team up into the thick brush and trenchworks surrounding their spawn. However, a spirited counter-attack along their right side led by Madfrog and a tank, with support from the Renegades, who had swapped teams, pushed the red team back to mid-field. However, Joe Perez and his Red Team was not to be denied and they took the Supergame East 2018 victory! Finally, the referees at East Coast Supergame bear special mention as they roamed the field tirelessly throughout the hot, humid weekend ensuring not only fair, but safe play, going so far as to check players for constant hydration and at several points even offering cold water to players still on the field. A massive portion of the credit for the weekend’s success should certainly be attributed to their hard work and dedication. An impressive game in which each and every player battled through intense heat and humidity to have a blast at a remarkable paintball park that keeps improving with each event and each season, Supergame East 2018 proved a great addition to the Super Game lineup. Players who attended the event are still talking about it, and plans are likely already underway for next year’s event!
