As games got underway here in Chicago
there was an early surprise, at least in my
opinion—as the Los Angeles Ironmen beat
Edmonton Impact 5-4 in their first game.
Impact bounced back with three straight
preliminary round wins. The Ironmen lost
only one preliminary round game. Houston
Heat and Baltimore Revo each won all four
of their first round games. ac: Dallas, New
York Xtreme, Moscow Red Legion, San
Diego Dynasty and Seattle Thunder each
won three of their opening round games.
In the pro Ocho rounds we had our first
absolute shock of the 2018 season as
San Antonio X-Factor absolutely worked
Edmonton Impact, beating them 7-1 and
sending Impact home earlier than any event
since the NXL started in 2015. Impact would
finish the event in ninth place, opening the
door I talked about earlier. But who would
walk through it?
In the quarterfinals Baltimore Revo stunned
San Diego Dynasty 3-2; Moscow Red
Legion clipped San Antonio X-Factor 4-3;
Houston Heat crushed ac: Dallas 6-0; and
the Ironmen just got past Seattle Thunder
2-1. In the semifinals Red Legion played
an awesome game against Houston Heat,
winning that game handily 6-1, while the
Ironmen beat Revo 4-3.
