have it, the test would be more real
than anything I could have imagined, as
temperatures in the region soared into
the high nineties and even the triple-digit
mark, with humidity climbing the ladder
as well. Temperatures were sweltering by
the time the game began Saturday and
the walk from the opening ceremony back
to the Jeep to gear up already had me
sweating, just in mesh shorts and a t-shirt.
I was so pleasantly surprised to feel a
light breeze move through my new UNDR
SERE jersey just moments after I pulled it
over my head and breathed a BIG sigh
of relief. All that ventilation was working,
and it was greatly appreciated. The pants
could have used a bit more ventilation in
my humble opinion, but otherwise they
fit well and were comfortable, and some
of the lightest-weight pants I’ve worn for
paintball.
Conveniently enough, the second
instalment of the East Coast Supergame
was right around the corner so I headed
to OXCC Paintball on the Maryland/
Delaware line, one of my favorite fields to
play, to put the new UNDR SERE jersey
and a prototype set of pre-production
Recon pants to the test where it counted,
where the paint was flying. As fate would

With a pack full of pods, goggles, the
headband to hold my ears back and
my Autococker ready to rock and roll,
I headed to the air station and then the
chronograph before hitting the field.
Our side started on the more open side
of OXCC, which was populated by high
brush with trails cut through it punctuated
by firebases, Chinook helicopters, boats,
airplanes, and, especially at East Coast
Supergame, a bunch of people with
blue armbands intent on not letting me
circumnavigate the field without wearing
paint. As my first spin of the day saw me
playing on this side of the field, without
a wooded canopy above, it got hot fast
as temperatures soared well into the
nineties. As I got into the business of
putting paint on people before they could
do the same to me, I joined a push along
the left wire trying to turn the back corner
of the field and we had to do everything
from running and gunning to creeping
and crawling through brush to make our
moves.
