high for the Iron City Classic, especially for
old school players that played them in the
past. In my playing days with Bad Company I
can’t recall any fields I enjoyed playing more
than these. That sentiment was echoed by
many that attended the 2017 version of these
famous fields.
THE IRON CITY CLASSIC
The Iron City Classic was an open ten-man
event, meaning there was one division open
to all teams to enter. There was a mix of
old school NPPL teams and teams newer
to the ten-man format. The All Americans
entered four teams, Team Image entered
two, Bad Company, Annapolis A-Team,
Master Blasters and Saberwolves were
some of the early classic woodsball brand
names you would probably recognize—they
each entered one team. Some of the teams
newer to competitive woodsball were Fox
4 Darkside (maybe the most experienced
of the newer teams), Washington Winstons,
Anchormen, Fraction and Allegheny Artillery
to name a few.
There was also a mix of former pro players,
current pro players and a variety of players
that play in events like the UWL (Ultimate
Woodsball League) and other woodsball
events. Some of the old school pros that
attended the Iron City Classic were Danny
Love, Steve Rabackoff, Adam Gardner,
Tommy Maliszewsk , Todd Hugh, Todd
Martinez, Steve Pisek, Robert Lessner, Frank
Connell, Kevin Donaldson, Mike Paxson, Billy
Ceranski, Dave Bains, Dave “Opie” Thomas,
Tom Cole and Ryan Moorhead. Some of
the current pro players included Eddie
Painter, Chad Bouchez, Jacob and Jason
Edwards, Raney Stanczak, Samuel Monville,
Colt Roberts, Chad George and a handful of
others.
