The NXL, with the help of Debra Dion Krischke, Bea
Youngs and others, held the Bob Gurnsey memorial
service in memory of the late founder of the game of
paintball. Many of the industry’s long time members
shared memories and/or thanks and a fund-raiser auction
was held afterwards to raise money for medical expenses
Bob encured. There were many “old timers” in attendance
including Jim Lively, Debra Dion Krischke, Gino Postorivo,
Hollywood and many more. One of the great pieces of
paintball memorabilia ever was sold at the auction. Before
the first game of paintball was ever played in 1981 Bob
Gurnsey shot a 4’X8’ board with several colored oil based
paintballs. He saved that board and now it resides in the
offices of Valken Paintball after its CEO, Gino Postorivo
purchased it through the auction.
