park’s staging area with the assistance of
one of the two paintball tanks attending the
game, but the red team wouldn’t be denied.
Time and again the red team drove the blue
team back to their spawn, capturing valuable
control points in the process, while the more
hard-core scenario players in attendance
took the chance to roam the field finding
valuable props, while the recreational players
and tournament players enjoying a gorgeous
day in the woods chose to gunfight. When
he wasn’t roving the woods and mounds
field wielding dual Tippmann pistols, Reaper
could be found with private groups and
birthday parties, showing new players the
ropes and being a positive ambassador of
the game. Though the final battle was still
fought, the issue was decided well before
and by the late afternoon the red team hung
a hard-fought W on the board.
When the paintballs stopped flying the
day ended like it had begun – all about the
camaraderie of the game and the friends
and family, likely and unlikely, that paintball
brings together. Paintball Central was a
generous and positive host to a fun, family-
friendly event that enjoyed intense gun
battles, celebrity attendance from around
the nation, players new and seasoned, young
and old, electronic markers and mechanical
guns, magazine-fed operators, tournament
competitors and pump players, men and
women. Upcoming events in the Carolinas
include Operation Red Homefront II at
Black Ops in Fayetteville and, of course, the
legendary Fulda Gap event in Fall. To learn
