It happens in the business of paintball all the time. A company is so inundated with orders that they are backordered, which seems to cause even more demand. The company amps up production and before they can even fill the backorders they have lost all momentum and some other product from another company replaces it. Remember how big the PSP was for years and then one day they were gone. Momentum lost. How about the Ion or Millennium Series, or the Automag and Autococker? Back to baseball. When two teams play a double header you would think that a split is way more common than one team or the other taking both games. The Elias Sports Bureau, the game’s keeper of historical statistical records found that the team that wins the first game of a double header also wins the second game 76% of the time. Momentum. I’m not saying talent, hard work, dedication and a good plan are meaningless to your success. Those things will make or break you. But momentum can fool you if you are not careful. It fooled nearly the entire paintball industry in 2005. Momentum can make you think you are something that you are not. It can make you complacent; it can make you overconfident; it can make you feel invincible. And when you lose that momentum you may not be prepared to survive it. The intersection of Momentum Lost and Lack of Awareness can be a devastating place to be for your company, your team, your sport… When you have momentum keep innovating, keep planning, keep working, keep grinding and know this: you will lose it. Everyone does. And when you do your opponent or your rival will know it too. If you are prepared you can survive and even thrive. Thanks for reading. Editor, Paintball.Media
