The Best Photos of
2017
I love watching paintball videos,
live GoSports coverage of the NXL,
documentaries and any other quality
paintball videos I get my hands on.
The place paintball videos have in
the game can’t be denied. But for
me there’s something special about
great still photography. To capture
the essence of a game, a point,
heartbreak, joy and the blood, sweat
and tears that is paintball, in 1/1000th
of a second is priceless to me. A
great paintball photo can bring back
memories from decades ago; it can
make you laugh or make you cry; and
it can summon up the feelings of a
great win or a devastating loss.
These “photo edition” magazines
we do every few years are some of
my favorites. To pull the best photos
from the world’s best paintball
photographers is a challenge. To
018
paintball.media magazine
narrow down 250,000-plus images
to 100 just feels like an impossible
task. But when we’re done, it’s a
masterpiece. But what are “the best
photos”? They are the ones that tell
a story—a story about a particular
game, a moment of a game, the
aftermath of a game, the beauty of
a game, the perfect fail or just a fun
shot.
Thanks to our amazing photo crew,
all named in the opening spread on
page 22. They are the lifeblood of
this magazine. And thanks to you for
all of your support. Enjoy the issue!
