The weekend started off Friday for most, some
came earlier on Thursday to secure a camping spot
on the property. Friday the players started pouring
in and setting up camp. Vendors filed in setting
up booths and getting ready for the swarms of
people this event would attract. Some vendors
in attendance were Social Paintball, Gangster
Paintball, and other small businesses. The real
party started Friday evening. When it started
getting dark out, the people came out decked
out in full costumes representing characters on
Star Wars. There was Lightsabers EVERYWHERE!
Everyone was dressing up to enter the costume
contest, and just be a part of the role-play. The
winners of the contests won Ultra Sabers, which
are realistic prop Lightsabers. Needless to say, it
was a great night and everyone had a lot of fun
with this particular scenario theme.
The camp life was awesome! I made my way around
to other camps, but ultimately ended up with Team
Defiant. Defiant had an awesome central location
when it came to the campgrounds, and everyone
would stop to hang out and talk for a while. Friday
night I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging
out with Greg Hastings and Wolf Critchlow.
Needless to say, they were pretty busy with how
many fans were out there, but they were happy
to stop and talk to each and every one. Everyone
hung out by the bon fire, ate, drank, told paintball
stories, and had a good laugh together. But soon
after, it was time to go to bed and prepare for what
this weekend would bring our way.
Saturday players were up bright and early, ready
for a great day of paintball. Even though the park
seemed to be full, there were still players pouring
in. They had to open up not one, but two excess
parking lots. About an hour or two before the game
an announcement came over the loudspeaker…
They had just sold the 1,000th player packet! Viper
was officially getting his head shaved and the park
erupted! They even framed the event card for the
1,000th player. Even after hitting 1,000 players, the
line was not getting any shorter.
At the stroke of noon, the infamous Viper Flare
went up, and it was game on. With over 500
