In a fairly surprising semifinal round Moscow Red Legion ended San Antonio X-Factor’s weekend early, 5-3 and Tampa Bay Damage beat Edmonton Impact by 3 points, 8-5. Raise your hand if you called Tampa Bay Damage versus Moscow Red Legion in the finals before the event started. And like every other NXL event this season in the pro division this one came down to a single point—and that single point edge wen to Moscow Red Legion as they beat Damage 4-3, ending another great NXL pro event. If you missed it you can always catch every pro game at www.GoSports.com on demand. DIVISIONAL PLAY The Semiprofessional division of the NXL saw 20 teams entering play on Friday morning, each with the goal of coming out on top by Sunday afternoon. But this is a tough division; just ask DZ All Stars and Montreal Image. These were top of the very best teams Division Two had to offer in 2016 and yet neither would win a single game in Atlantic City in the Semipros. New York Xtreme, Wolfpack, Distortion, Sacramento DMG and Louisville Asylum all made it out of the preliminary rounds without a loss. But it’s not always how fast you start—it’s how you finish and Prague’s MLKings rattled off four Sunday wins to take first place in the Semipro division; this after barely squeaking into Sunday play. The MLKings victory coupled with the Moscow Red Legion win in the Pro Division was the first time in paintball history that European teams finished in first place in the top two divisions of a major U.S. event. www.paintball.media 091
