AN AMERICAN PLAYER’S JOURNEY TO MXL GUADALAJARA This season I was fortunate enough to play the Mexican Xball League (MXL) Guadalajara event. I had heard this league hosts bucket list events and it did not disappoint! A perfect venue, in great atmosphere, surrounded by a scenic paradise; this was a travelers dream tournament. Upon landing in Mexico it was only a 15 minutes and $2 Uber ride to one of the most beautiful fields I’ve ever played at. And the dollar is strong here at about 19 pesos per $1, so about $100 will get you through the week for food, drinks, Uber rides and water. This is a pretty nice perk to start for the average young U.S. player, balling on a budget and generally spending a few hundred an event back home. for the Mexican paintball community, as he runs both MXL and this awesome multi-field paintball complex. We all can’t help but grin ear to ear when we notice we are completely surrounded by large mountains, epic clouds and a colorful landscape of nature—and unique hillside neighborhoods. The entire area smells like the best Latino food on Earth and the weather is never hotter then a perfect dry 80 degrees. All around the field there are outstanding restaurants or small food stands/carts. You’d be hard pressed to find a better location for a good-sized event. The venue itself is excellent! There are two full size fields with new bunkers and flat, smooth, slideable grass, next to a scenario rec-ball field and surrounded by bleachers, shady tented pit areas, and an alley of vendors and food tents. Amongst the tents I’m fortunate enough to find Virtue and DLX, two of my major sponsors that I was grateful to have there for the support. You can tell The event site is actually at a real paintball this event was well planned as the layout of field owned by TJ All-Stars’ own Arturo everything was very neat and organized and Andrade. Arturo is an outstanding person banners cover everything. A paint trailer www.paintball.media 239
