DIVISIONAL COVERAGE
Coming into this third event of the
2017 Millennium Series season the
Semiprofessional Paintball League (SPL) is
becoming a one-team race to the finish line.
In case you haven’t noticed Expendables
Feilding won the first two events of the season,
speed-bumping the competition along the
way. And there are some really good teams
in the SPL including the Cologne Hurricanes,
Bad Boys Oss, Birmingham Disruption, Lucky
15s Staffordshire, GI London Retribution and
FiveStar Lleida 2 to name just a few.
In their three preliminary round games
Expendables Feilding did what they always
do. They won all three without much of a
fight from the competition, beating Ghost
Paris 4-0, FiveStar Lleida Two 4-1 and Vision
PPC Grenoble 5-1. Although their preliminary
round was essentially just practice for
Sunday, the Expendables Feilding definitely
were challenged in the later rounds. In the
Ocho rounds they beat Droogs Frankfurt
without breaking a sweat 5-1 but in the
quarterfinals the Expendables Feilding
had to play their best to hang on and beat
Cologne Hurricanes 3-2 in a great game. In
the semifinals Birmingham Disruption would
give the champs all they could handle, but
still it was not enough as the Expendables
Feilding would once again win and move
on –this time the score was 2-1. Joe Bar
Pelissanne surprised many making it to the
SPL finals but their fun would end there as
they would lose to the Expendable Feilding
4-0, keeping the boys from New Zealand on
top for yet another win and the first “three-
peat” of the Millennium Season in any
division.
