There were hard fights on all the beaches, during the early morning hours, along with Caen and Pegasus Bridge were also fought over all day long. No matter where the Allies turned a German unit seemed to pop up and be in their way. By mid-day the Allies had made progress and had pushed up the field into Colleville and its surrounding area.
