Intro By Josh Silverman When it was recently announced that one of the most remarkable fields in paintball history, Joliet Illinois’ CPX, was shutting down, the news sent a shockwave of nostalgia-tinged sadness through paintball. One of paintball’s great destinations since it opened, CPX, with concept field attractions like Bedlam and Armageddon, along with a large, paved parking lot, indoor plumbing and an on-site pro-shop, has hosted everything from professional paintball tournaments and the Road to Aruba to William Shatner’s SPPLAT Attack and, of course, Living Legends since its creation. A true paintball bucket list field that year after year drew thousands from across North America along with some of the game’s biggest names and the industry’s biggest sponsors, CPX events like Dreaded Legends, Dead Legends, Bones and Ashes and Endless Legends will continue to be held across the country, with Living Legends moving to another of paintball’s long-standing destination fields, Michigan’s Hell Survivors. In homage to one of paintball’s great playing fields that had to be experienced to be truly appreciated, Paintball.Media has compiled some of our favorite photographs from events hosted by CPX over the years. We wish the CPX family the very best and say goodbye to the incredible park at the end of Schweitzer Road. www.paintball.media 071
