Top 5 Tips to pick a
winning gown
W
e have compiled a few tips from our experts
over at Omega Image about gown selection.
A great gown can make or break your competition,
so choose wisely!
1. Consider your personal style. This is important
a a gown should reflect your choices and style. Do
you like clothing that is Classic, Romantic, Modern,
etc. There are several styles of gowns and you should
go with the type of style you feel comfortable in and
like.
2. What colors look flattering on you, choose
something in your seasonal palate. We all have
favorite colors, but lets face it, not all of those colors
look great on us. If you haven’t had a color analysis,
I encourage you to get one. Not only will you find
out what your best colors are, but it will help you
save money on clothing and give you better options
for mix and match.
3. Consider how the Gown is cut, is it flattering on
you? Have you ever seen a dress in the window or
on a mannequin and thought to yourself, “I have to
try it on!” Only to find out its not flattering on your
body. You definitely want to make sure the cut of
the dress makes you look best.
4. Consider the alterations that must be made.
Almost all gowns have to have some type of
alteration done, even minor ones. If the gown needs
multiple alterations, consider an alternative option.
Sometimes that can backfire and the dress can
become something that looks like it was made for the
Bride of Frankenstein.
5. How do you feel in it? This is crucial, if you don’t
love it, don’t feel comfortable with the details, how
it feels, etc, don’t buy it. The dislike/discomfort will
show when you are on stage.
