Number 10: "The Spiral Dance" by Starhawk is number 10 on my list. This might seem like an odd choice to some, but I’ll explain. When I first read this book, I didn’t know much about Paganism, Wicca or the Goddess Movement at all.

I discovered a whole new world from this one book; the spirituality she explained and described was beautiful. Now this wasn’t the first time I’d heard about Paganism, but this book was the first time I really understood beyond the rituals. It wasn’t so much a “how” for me as a “why.”

Number 9: 1 is my number 9 pick. It would be higher perhaps if it wasn’t for the fact that I would consider this book more for people who have learned a bit about Paganism already, or for people that are already practicing but not quite

“there” yet. Perhaps a good book after the initiate has learned a bit or has the ability to ask questions from someone who has been practicing for a while.

Number 8: Book number 8 in my choices is going to show a bit of my bias in terms of path. It’s called "The Rune Primer: A Down To Earth Guide To The Runes" by Sweyn Plowright. This book is very direct and to the point about runes and their power,

how they work, and what they mean. Sweyn wrote this book in plain English instead of pulling a bunch of stuff out of thin air and writing five pages of information per rune. Anyone who is curious about runes should read this book.

Number 7: Cunningham's "Encyclopedia of Crystal, Gem & Metal Magic" is my number 7 pick. This is for people who use stones, metals and herbs in their magick. This is a Kitchen Witch’s best

friend and is definitely worth looking into! A very good collection of information on all three.

The question I think I’ve been asked the most about being a Pagan is “Where should I start?” or “What books would you suggest?” Not that these are bad questions at all; we all started somewhere along this path. I’m going to be a bit biased on this list because these are the books I started with, and if you have the opportunity to ask questions from a practicing Pagan, this is always a good idea to do even if you are reading books. Without further ado, here is my list.
