About half hour before sunset I light the fire with the wood collected. As sunset approaches I stand and face the sunset, as light and night meet and embrace each other. This is when I pick up the beeswax candle I have made and light it. I usually say something like. “I honor the Goddesses of the moon and gods of the sun. I thank you for all the growth in me, and for my harvest from the gardens planted.” I put the candle down and place some of the harvest around the candle. I put the dried flowers/herbs in the fire, as well. I then take the paper that I had written on and allow it to burn in the fire also. I usually then say “With this harvest I give thanks. May this harvest bring plenty to others that are in need.” I usually sit and reflect, watching the dancing of the flames, and listening to the beautiful sounds of nature that fill my ears and soul. If I have some Pagan music that is harvest-orientated, I listen to that. Some of my favourite artists are Damh the Bard, Elaine Silver, and Jaiya. There are many great artists out there. Most have songs that go with different times of the year.

If it is possible, I allow the candles and fire to burn out on their own.

This is a simple ritual that is done with love, reflection and great intent. It comes from the heart.

May you all have great blessings this Mabon season.

Love and Light.

Giant Hill

By Red Helix RS

Born of fire born of ice the two giants fought

And where not nice

One burned his hair the other caught a chill

The battle was watched by gods for a thrill

Two giants they did battle moving in for the kill
