MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE NOW CHOOSING TO BE MARRIED OUTDOORS IN
A GARDEN STRUCTURE. MANY OF OUR VENUES IN OXFORDSHIRE NOW HAVE
OUTDOOR STRUCTURES WHERE A CEREMONY CAN BE HELD. CEREMONIES
NEED TO BE HELD UNDER A FIXED ROOF, IN A STRUCTURE THAT HAS BEEN
LICENSED FOR MARRIAGE, SO THEY CANNOT JUST TAKE PLACE ANYWHERE!
Outdoor Ceremonies
Please remember that, with the great British
summer being what it is, it will not always be
possible to hold a ceremony outdoors due to
inclement weather, which may include rain,
wind or even very hot and sunny conditions
with no shade. Please do not let it spoil your day if the
ceremony cannot take place outdoors for
whatever reason. Make sure you have a
back-up plan and select another room at the
venue and remember, it must be big enough to
accommodate all your guests.
It will be the Registrars’ decision on the day
whether the ceremony can take place outdoors.
They will need to consider the safety and
wellbeing of the guests as well as the protection
of the Marriage Register, which is the only
official record of the ceremony. Venues which currently accommodate outdoor
ceremonies are shown on pages 35 and 36
displaying this symbol .
