Oxfordshire Baby & Parenting Guide | Page 2

Help is at hand. When you have a young baby, knowledge, and where to find it, is key. It can be really useful to have information and advice on where you can go to meet other parents or carers; about breastfeeding, getting back into shape after pregnancy and how to give your child the healthiest start in life; and your early education and childcare options. Two teams at Oxfordshire County Council are particularly useful for new parents: Oxfordshire Family Information Service (OxonFIS) provides information and advice on what childcare and early education is available, where, when and how much it costs. The service maintains information about all registered childcare across the county. They also hold a wide range of information about activities for children, such as parent and baby/toddler groups and children’s centres. Children’s centres are places to play and have fun with your children as well as to get information, advice and support with training, work opportunities and childcare.
