H aving grabbed a few days away earlier in the year to see Malta ’ s Azure Window - which was just in time before a storm washed it into the sea - Chiz Dakin has been ( and still is ) hard at work in the Peak District . Her Cycling in the Peak District guidebook is well on its way through second edition updates ( a much larger process than she envisaged with new and improved mapping , changes allowed by the relaxation of rules about cyclists on towpaths , a discovery that her routes are perfect for the new breed of gravel bikes , and a generally good spruce up in every respect ).

She ’ s also about to start work on some new walking guidebooks to the Peak District over the summer ( some of which might just involve some cafe stops ), will be leading a photo walk for the Sheffield Walking Festival and also hopes to build up more of a mini-website around her Tour de Peak District long-distance cycling route , which is “ the nicest available route around the edge of the Peak District National Park boundary ” and is now available in both off-road and road flavours .
In between Peak District work , she ’ s often found walking or cycling in the Lakes , Snowdonia , Scotland and any other interesting bit of hilly or coastal land .
