The Jor dan Trail
T
his spring Tony Howard
and Di Taylor were
invited to join the
official inaugural
through-walk of the
650km Jordan Trail.
Having initially conceived the
idea they been exploring it on
annual visits, recently with
the enthusiastic involvement
of Jordanians including the
Tourism Minister, Lina Annab.
Her majesty Queen Rania
also lent her support by joining
the walk to the ancient cliff
top Dana village. The trail
has received accolades from
both Wanderlust and National
Geographic. For all involved,
reaching and plunging into the
Red Sea at the end of the forty
day trek with cameras flashing
and a band playing was a
uniquely memorable moment,
in particular for Tony and Di for
whom it was the completion of a
twenty year dream.
