Highpointeering
M
uch of Kieron Gribbon’s
time these days is spent
developing the High Point
Ireland websites and
growing the Irish Highpointeering
community. Things have come a
long way since the website was
Highly Commended in OWPG’s
2016 awards.
One of the most significant
areas of development has been
in High Point Ireland’s range
of ground-breaking challenges,
leagues and awards competitions.
These include Highpointeer of the
Year, the all-Ireland Counties and
Provinces Leagues, the 10,000m
Challenge multi-charity fundraiser,
and an expanding family of high
point lists (now 17 lists).
For all these initiatives, High
Point Ireland has teamed up with
Peakhunter, the world’s No.1 peak
and high point ‘bagging’ platform
- www.peakhunter.com. Using the
Peakhunter app, Highpointeers
can log their visits to locations
which feature on the Gribbon list of
Ireland’s major geographical high
points. If a Highpointeer completes
the Gribbon list or any of its sub-
lists, they will earn a digital badge
for their Peakhunter profile page. A
“Visit 25 in 2018” Highpointeering
challenge is also hosted exclusively
within the Peakhunter platform.
Kieron has also developed a
dedicated News Hub for Ireland’s
Highpointeering community which
he plans to develop fully in 2018.
