It's all from a place of lack (be “safe,” go to a good school so that employers want to hire you, and you’ll have a good job to pay the bills). The system won't teach us to wonder “what if something good comes out of this?” Abundance lies beyond all the lies. You can transform your life for the better if you are willing to play it full out, according to Lisa. It means you’ll have to take the leap and live with the insecurity that things may or may not work out. They will always work out when you start thinking abundantly. Nichols decided to get away from the desperate situation she was in by getting herself a job and working from her home closet at night times to fund her dream, even when she didn't know yet what that looked like. So after that, she needed a vision, an image of a positive and abundant future toward which she could work. The exercise by Stephen Covey—to envision your funeral and what you’d like people to say about you—helped Lisa to choose the legacy she wanted to leave. “I want to know that I’ve spent my day, my month, every hour doing the things and being the woman that I want to be remembered for.
