Teach your children to receive
In many cultures, there is still the firm belief that giving is more important than receiving, while in fact, you cannot give away anything you do not allow yourself.
In my practice, I regularly meet people who carry this much guilt and weight on their shoulders because they were not allowed to ask for something as they were children. Women have been raised to serve and mainly feel selfish when they think of their own needs. Men were taught to be strong and self-reliant and shy away from emotions because they would be considered a sign of weakness.
How many times have you turned away a compliment, an apology, or help? How many times have you rejected love when finding yourself saying, "Oh, don't worry about me. I'm fine." Regardless of your upbringing, we live in a 24/7 economy and a globally oriented world. Life is very demanding. No wonder even young people get stressed and burned out.

It's time we change these old ways. It's important to teach our children to be open to receive with gratitude and grace. It will enable them to feel more aligned, and they will be able to achieve any goal much easier in the future. They will feel more connected to who they truly are and have stronger boundaries.

Let's teach our children to receive money from people, to obtain the form and substance of what they are given, and to do so with warmth and graciousness.

Let's teach our children to accept all compliments with an open heart, just saying, "Thank you," for the compliment without any excuses.

Let's teach our children that life is always giving and teach them to see what life is giving them.

Let's teach them to say thank you for the smallest thing, like praising the driver who waves at them to go first at the stop, thanking a cat for using the litter box, etc.

Let's teach our children to count their blessings. Gratitude is a state of mind: a way of seeing life, noticing, and relating to life. To be grateful is to be receptive to life's givingness, life's abundance.

Let's teach our children to be fully expressive and to be self-revealing. This way, we show them to be authentic—to be open and honest about all of who they are.

To create many flows in your life, learn to give and receive freely. You want to receive, as well as to give. You empower others by letting them give to you for they then have the opportunity to demonstrate their abundance.

If no one could receive, no one would be able to give, which would block the flow of energy necessary to create abundance.
It's not selfish for you to receive: see it as the completion of the circle of energy. The more you're open to receiving, the more you can give.
It is our birthright to receive as much as we give. When we are in receiving energy, we see more; we hear more; we allow people to help us; we allow the universe to send us the right situation. We feel nourished.
