We look forward to a rich array of inspiring concerts this fall and throughout our 2017–2018 season, which celebrates creativity in all its forms. The BSO is an integral and indispensable part of Baltimore and Maryland and one of our community’s greatest cultural assets. Many people—including current and past Board members, endowment trustees, musicians, staff and other community leaders — are working together to help assure its strength and positive direction. We are deeply grateful for the steadfast commitment of visionary leaders across our city and the state of Maryland, which has fostered the development of one of the finest orchestras in the United States. We greatly appreciate the individual, corporate, foundation and government donors who are vital to the BSO and its programs. With your attendance and support, today the BSO is the largest cultural organization in Maryland, reaching more than 350,000 people each year. Our Music Director Marin Alsop, BSO musicians and the guest artists who perform with the orchestra enrich our lives through exceptional artistry. The orchestra’s programs include not only concerts, but also educational opportunities serving thousands of young people from our diverse and vibrant community. Through decades of stewardship and investment, the BSO is a community treasure. Following significant accomplishments, our work continues to grow our family of audience members and donors. As we move forward together, we will build on past achievements by developing a new multi-year plan that will help us sustain and advance our great orchestra. I look forward to sharing more about this exciting work with you in the months ahead. As Marin Alsop has said, “Our music only comes to life when you arrive.” On behalf of our Board of Directors, musicians and staff, thank you for joining us for this performance. Peter T.
